La Metairie Neuve is a farmhouse typical of the local country style, which was uninhabited for nearly 40 years until we purchased it in 2003. An extensive renovation project which involved converting the open sided Dutch barn into the ‘salon’, a double height living area with beautiful old stone walls and original wooden beams, was completed in the summer of 2005.

The house is finished to modern luxury standards and furnished with an eclectic mix of antique and modern pieces, accentuating the interesting architectural features of the building. The large ‘salon’ is on two levels, providing architectural interest, as well as ample space for entertaining. A built in bar divides the salon from the kitchen and there is a huge open fireplace, making the salon warm and inviting on long winter evenings.    A mezzanine floor at one end of the salon leads to a discrete viewing area for the 32” wide screen television with DVD and video player. The mezzanine leads out onto a large balcony, an ideal location from which to watch the fabulous sunsets with which we so often seem blessed.

Our nearest neighbour is another farm about a third of a mile away, so there is plenty of peace and privacy. The house is set in approximately 1.5 acres of pastureland.  Apart from the inviting swimming pool, there is an attractive pond, filled by a natural water source, in one corner of the garden. A path all around the perimeter of the property provides a gentle stroll and enables you to admire the views of the Val du Dadou (the Valley of the Dadou River).
